The FATF plenary meeting took place in Paris on 21-23 June 2023 with delegates from over 200 jurisdictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, there are areas for further improvement in detection, investigation and prosecution of more complex money laundering cases, risk-based supervision of non-financial sector, developing its understanding of terrorist financing and application of proportionate sanctions for non-compliance with them in financial and non-financial sectors.The FATF is to publish the report in September after FATF\u2019s quality review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global implementation of the virtual asset standards is considered poor. Almost \u00be of jurisdictions are partially compliant or non-compliant with the standards. Many jurisdictions have not implemented fundamental requirements, and more than half have not implemented the Travel Rule. Lack of regulation creates loopholes for criminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FATF aims to provide a new suite of tools which countries should use to effectively freeze, seize, and confiscate criminal property, both domestically and through international cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Plenary adopted an internal tool to combat corruption. The FATF members discussed the progress performed on the misuse of citizenship and residency by investment schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FATF is working on potential revisions to the Recommendation 8 aiming to protect NPOs from abuse for terrorist financing without disrupting or discouraging legitimate NPO activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
